Salthill Devon were held to a 2-2 draw to TU Dublin in NFP Park last Sunday afternoon.
Having led twice, Greg Cunningham's side will be disappointed to have not taken all three points. Winger Ben McDonnell was once again to the fore, netting both his team's goals.
On a wet Sunday afternoon in Salthill, McDonnell opened the scoring after six minutes with a cheeky low-driven free-kick that sailed under the TU Dublin wall and past the goalkeeper. The Galway side led until the 66th minute, when TU Dublin's Manny Milongo got on the end of a set-piece to slot past Begley and level the tie.
McDonnell provided the spark again as he drove at the TU Dublin defender to unleash a left-footed effort across the 'keeper into the far bottom right corner to make it 2-1. Their lead lasted only minutes though, as failure to clear their lines from another TU Dublin free-kick delivery meant the ball fell to the feet of Milongo again, and he pushed a shot to the right of Begley and into the net.
Sunday's stalemate means Salthill Devon maintain their unbeaten start to the FAI National League campiagn and keeps them top of Group 2. They remain one point ahead of Letterkenny Rovers on four points.
Salthill Devon have the weekend off before returning to action against Mayo FC next Saturday.
