A Galway man has been selected for Ireland's national foam dodgeball squad and is racing to raise funds before heading to the World Championships in Bangok.
Colin O'Halloran is less than €100 away from his €3,000 target. The 44-year-old is raising funds to cover flights, accommodation, team gear, and vaccinations.
On his GoFund Me page, O'Halloran has said he never "anticipated having the chance to represent my country at any sport, especially at 44 years of age".
"So, now comes the hard part, paying for it all, which I am hoping you can help me," he continued. "All money donated will go towards flights, accommodation, team gear, vaccinations etc. I don't expect to get all of that covered but whatever I can get towards it would be very much appreciated."
The 11th World Championships will be held in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 5 to December 13. The federation says the event will feature both cloth and foam formats across the same six divisions. That setup follows a 2025 season in which 54 countries came together across five regional championships, a broader international footprint that matches the sport’s expanded world format.
