Galway's Kieran Molloy knocked out Sean Noakes to retain his IBF European Welterweight title at Copperbox Arena in London last weekend.
With both fighters entering Saturday night's bout unbeaten, someone's record had to fall. Molloy delivered a perfectly-timed right hook to catch Noakes flush on the jaw to drop him to the canvas and claim the title once more.
It was a gruelling battle with both fighters using the early rounds to suss each other out. Molloy began to up the pace and gain the upper-hand after round six. He landed some solid body shots early in the eighth before he landed the clean combination that won him the fight.
Noakes just beat the count but after a brief assessment, referee Ron Kearney waved it off at 1:58 of the eighth, deeming Noakes in no condition to continue.
Saturday's win saw Molloy improve to a 15-0 record with eight knockouts. Molloy said after the fight that he is ready to fight the biggest names and said to bring a fight night to Galway "would mean the world to him".
We'll have to keep our eyes peeled for Molloy's next move.
