Mazda has lifted the lid on the new CX-6e which is set to arrive in Ireland later this year.
Bringing electric driving to Mazda's mid-sized SUV range, the CX-6e's rear-mounted electric motor delivers 258hp and 290Nm of torque to its rear wheels. The motor is paired with a 78kWh LFP battery enabling a claimed range of up to 484km.
DC fast charging with up to 200kW allows the battery to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes.
Following what Mazda calls its driver centric approach, the smart cockpit of the CX-6e places all important information in the driver’s field of vision. A large Head-Up Display projects customisable, active driving data, such as speed, navigation guidance, and safety alerts, onto the windscreen. Mazda says the wide 26-inch, dual split touchscreen gives the front passenger access to a wide range of information without distracting the driver from the road.
Voice recognition, available in nine languages, responds to everyday requests like adjusting the temperature, opening the windows, or finding your next destination. Gesture control allows users to quickly select pre-saved routes and play your favourite music without touching a button. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto keep personal apps and media at hand.
A dedicated rear touchscreen enables second-row occupants to control climate settings, operate the sunshade and adjust the front passenger seat for additional legroom.
The Takumi Plus trim level is equipped with digital side and rear-view mirrors. According to Mazda, this provides a 30 per cent wider field of view and enhance visibility in low light and poor weather. The digital rear-view mirror provides rear visibility when loading up to the roof.
