The National Breast Cancer Research Institute (NBCRI ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Marie Chawke to its Board of Directors, further strengthening the charity’s leadership as it continues to fund and support world-class breast cancer research in Ireland.

A native of Kilmallock, Co. Limerick, and now living in Killarney, Co. Kerry, Marie is a highly respected hospitality executive with an outstanding track record in leadership across Ireland’s luxury hospitality sector. During her career, she has held senior positions including General Manager of the former Aghadoe Heights Hotel & Spa in Killarney, Hayfield Manor, Cork and Director of Business Development at Dromoland Castle. She currently works with luxury hospitality consultancy Calliope Collective.

Marie is also widely recognised for her dedication to breast cancer awareness, advocacy and fundraising and Kerry Hospice advocacy and fundraising. As a breast cancer survivor, she brings a unique and deeply personal perspective to the Board, together with a passionate commitment to advancing research that improves outcomes for patients and their families.

Speaking following her appointment, Marie Chawke said: “Having experienced breast cancer myself, I know first-hand how important research is in delivering better treatments, improving patient care and ultimately saving lives. It is a privilege to join the Board of the National Breast Cancer Research Institute and to support the incredible work being carried out by researchers across Ireland. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members to help ensure that future generations benefit from continued investment in breast cancer research.”

Marie joins the Board at an important time for NBCRI as the charity continues to invest in pioneering research projects that seek to improve the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer, while supporting Ireland’s leading cancer researchers in delivering innovations that will benefit patients both nationally and internationally.
