Fitzy is resisting temptation, kind of

When the girls are away, the boys will play.

This week, our Fitzy has embarked on the greatest challenge in reality television – a 24/7 documented lads’ holiday away from his significant other. One *slight* hiccup aside, the Barna man has passed the test with flying colours. That’s as of Wednesday afternoon anyways.

‘Casa Amor’ is the most eagerly anticipated segment of Love Island every year. The couples in the villa are split, with the boys heading out to a different villa just a few hundred metres away to get to know six new female ‘bombshells’. The girls stay in the villa to entertain the six new male ‘bombshells’.

It tends to be the most dramatic week of the show. This year has been no different. That should be unsurprising though, this year’s cast of lads have a good case for being the loosest contestants in the show’s history.

Not even Fitzy, who has been described as a “father figure” this week by dumped islander Tommy, can push his influence onto this lot. Of the six lads, it’s only the Galway footballer moving respectfully.

Happily exclusive and the L-bomb already dropped with 28-year-old detective Lola Deal, Fitzy has not entertained any alternative love interests to this point. But Casa Amor presents the toughest test of them all. Will the primary school teacher crumble under the pressure?

He’s played in All-Ireland finals and gone toe-to-toe with the best forwards in the country. Fitzy does not succumb to pressure – if anything he thrives on it. An athlete on a level with Premier League and NFL stars, remember.

There was talk that fellow Irish content creator Charleen Murphy was the best shot at turning the Galway man’s head. She didn’t get close.

Now, despite Fitzy’s refusal to get to know other ladies, his insistence on sleeping outside on his own, and admitting to missing his Lola during their time apart, he did have one moment where the perfect boy disappeared and in his place arrived a demon.

A competition between the main villa and Casa Amor brought Fitzy’s bravest Love Island moment yet. One islander from each villa would go head-to-head to deliver the craziest response to the challenge posed. When Lola was called upon she had to take on Samraj in licking an islander of the opposite sex from head-to-toe. Lola conceded defeat and put in a lacklustre performance as a mark of respect to her partner.

Fitzy was called upon to kiss the islander of the opposite sex with the smallest feet. But two girls have the same size feet. Whatever will the closed-off and in-love Fitzy do?

Well, come on now. This is a competition and there is a point for the team on the line. Much like the selfless task of man-marking David Clifford, Fitzy did his bit for his team. He lined both girls up, whipped his top off and went for it. The boys took to their feet to applaud, the girls were dumbfounded. A unanimous victory. Point to Casa Amor.

When news got to Lola of her man’s victory, she was not best pleased. We can suspect she may have a few choice words for our Fitzy when he returns home.

It led Lola to question how Fitzy was behaving over in the other villa. Hopefully not much longer now before the pair are re-united and Fitzy can assure his woman his eyes are just for her.

He might, however, need to run far, far away when the dreaded ‘movie night’ arrives.
