City Councillor Frank Fahy is seeking to win Fine Gael’s nominaton to fill the Seanad seat vacated by new Galway West TD Seán Kyne.
Other candidates who have so far emerged are County Laois Councillor Vivienne Phelan and former Lord Mayor of Dublin, Ray McAdam.
Fahy, having served on the City Council since 2011, was proposed and selected as the nominee during a meeting of the Galway West Constituency held on Friday, 19 June.
In seeking election, Councillor Fahy says he would focus particularly on representing Galway West, strengthening Fine Gael’s presence throughout the constituency, promoting regional development, and championing the Irish language as a native speaker.
