Met Éireann has warned of a risk of thunderstorms in Galway and throughout Connacht from mid-afternoon today (Thursday ) until tomorrow evening.
The alert, which comes into effect at 3pm today, warns that thunderstorms may develop in Connacht and Donegal, bringing a risk of torrential downpours causing localised flooding, as well as possible lightning damage.
Hail and gusty winds could also result in hazardous driving conditions.
The warning will remain in place until 6pm tomorrow.
The Status Yellow alert for high temperatures, which was due to expire tomorrow morning, has been extended to 9am on Saturday.
