The Indian Cultural and Sports Community (ICSC ) Galway is inviting people of all ages and backgrounds to join the celebration of International Yoga Day 2026 on Sunday, 21 June, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Coláiste Muire Máthair, St Mary’s Road, Galway.
Organised in collaboration with the Embassy of India in Dublin and Galway City Council, the event aims to promote health, wellbeing, mindfulness, and cultural understanding through the practice of yoga. Participation is free, and all members of the public are welcome.
Speaking ahead of the event, ICSC Galway Event Lead Jitendra Kumar Gogineni said International Yoga Day highlights the importance of maintaining harmony between mind and body.
“We are delighted to bring this celebration to Galway and warmly invite everyone to experience the many benefits of yoga. This event is about bringing communities together through wellness and mindfulness. Whether you are new to yoga or have years of experience, we encourage everyone to participate and enjoy this opportunity to focus on health, relaxation, and connection with others,” he said.
The programme will feature two sessions led by experienced instructors, each designed to accommodate participants of varying abilities. The first session, led by Meenakshi Duraiswamy, will include an opening prayer, beginner-friendly yoga postures, and pranayama breathing techniques. Following a short break, the second session, led by Anusha Gattu of the Himalayan Meditation Group with each instructor guiding their own dedicated practice tailored to suit participants of all levels.
