Galway clubs produced a remarkable display at the Victor Inter League Finals 2026 held at the University of Limerick last weekend, with Galway Lawn Tennis Club (GLTC ) and Cortoon Badminton Club capturing four All-Ireland titles between them.

Competing in the national finals against some of the strongest clubs in the country, Galway teams claimed national honours in the Grade E, Grade F, Grade G and Grade H competitions following a series of outstanding performances throughout the day.

GLTC’s Grade E side opened their campaign with an emphatic 6-1 victory over hosts University of Limerick. The Galway side dominated across the doubles and singles disciplines, with particularly strong performances in the mixed doubles events. They followed this with another superb display against Mullingar, securing a convincing 4-0 victory to seal the All-Ireland title.

The Grade G competition proved one of the most competitive sections of the tournament. GLTC edged out Bough in a dramatic 4-3 encounter featuring several deciding-set battles before producing another dominant performance in the final to defeat Ennis Tennis and Badminton Club 5-1 and secure a second national title for the club.

GLTC’s Grade H side also impressed throughout the day. After overcoming Boyne by 5-2, the Galway team faced Dunmore Badminton Club in a thrilling final. In one of the closest matches of the tournament, GLTC narrowly secured a 4-3 victory to complete a memorable treble of titles for the club.

Cortoon Badminton Club were equally dominant in the Grade F competition. They began with a superb 7-0 victory over Boyne before defeating University of Limerick 4-0 in the final. Cortoon produced consistent performances across all events and did not lose a single team match on their way to becoming All-Ireland champions.

President of Badminton Ireland Michael McGrath was present to congratulate the winning teams and present the medals following a hugely successful weekend for Galway badminton.
