Galway City West and Knocknacarra Councillor Donal Lyons this week acknowledges the further resurfacing works to footpaths in Cappagh Park.
He told the Advertiser that over the years, he had received numerous representations from parents, wheelchair users, walkers and joggers but in particular parents with prams and push chairs who expressed concerns regarding the poor surface on the footpaths and the need to resurface them.
“Cappagh Park is a fantastic local amenity with active and passive recreational use. This is the third year that Galway City Council has allocated funding to have the footpaths in the park resurfaced.
“The works now completed will add to the works carried out last year and the previous year and will make a big difference for accessibility to park areas.
“I want to thank the engineers and officials in Galway City Council Parks and Recreation Department the Finance Department for their help in addressing my representations and carrying out the work over the last three years. I have every confidence that the works carried out will be broadly welcome by park users,” he concluded.
