The Galway Climate Festival ‘Giob Geab’ event will take place as part of this year’s Galway Climate Inspirations Festival on Thursday, June 25 in the Festival Tent in Fr Burke Park, Galway city.
Galway City Council and Galway County Council are inviting groups to present their sustainability stories, projects, or innovative ideas to a receptive audience. Interested parties could include community groups, social enterprises, biodiversity groups, and residents associations.
Taking place between 7pm and 10pm, Shani Williams is returning to host the event. ‘Giob Geab’ is an Irish interpretation of the Japanese rapid fire presentation format known as ‘Pecha Kucha’. It follows a simple format. Each group presents five slides for five minutes sharp. It is designed to make the evening as engaging and fun as possible, highlighting the amazing environmental, biodiversity and climate actions taking place in Galway.
“This is the third Giob Geab and this year we are delighted to be bringing Galway County Council on board,” said Tiarnan McCusker, Community Climate Action Officer.
“There is a wealth of environmental excellence throughout the city, county and beyond, and we would love to hear from you,” he added.
If you would like to present, please email [email protected] or [email protected] by close of business on Friday, June 5. Please highlight your group’s name and project.
The event is organised in partnership with Galway County Council, Galway Tidy Towns, Galway City Community Network, Galway City Partnership and Galway Volunteer Centre. Galway City Council staff and Galway County Council staff will also present at the event. The night will provide a great opportunity for networking and learning in an informal and relaxed environment.
