WHEN Gardaí raided the property of a Dunmore pensioner, they allegedly discovered 66 cannabis plants valued at €52,800 and cannabis to the value of €12,000.
Bettina Carolan, Cloonkeen, Dunmore appeared before Judge Fiona Lydon at Galway District Court on Monday last, May 18, to face charges in relation to the drugs.
Gary McDonald BL, defending. applied for free legal aid on behalf of his client, stating that she was a pensioner and of limited means.
The prosecution said that there was no objection from the State to this request and legal aid was granted by Judge Lydon.
The Judge made a statements order to provide the defence with all Garda evidence collected during the investigation.
The defendant was remanded on continuing bail until the June 15 sitting of the Court when she will decide on whether she is entering a not guilty or guilty plea when the case goes forward.
