Sky Before Screens invites you to the slipway in Kinvara where a new phone-free bench, and a colourful mural await you! They hope that this space will give children, young people and adults opportunities to connect and relax beyond social media and screens.
A big thanks to Galway County Council and local Cllr Paul Killilea who, with the help and support of Hilda O’Grady of Kinvara Tidy Towns funded, provided and installed the bench. Thank you also to O’Donnells Hardware and Cregal Art for donating paint.
The mural evolved from a scribble workshop on the slipway, when children and adults immersed themselves in the sights, sounds, smells of the bay. A big thank you to Chris Hanley, local artist and to our local teens, Sophia Dunne, Abigail Hiseman Priestly and Oisín Maguire who came along to help.
The mural will change as other groups of children and young people who want to make their mark get involved. Contact [email protected]
Sky Before Screens hopes that the visible presence of a gentle reminder enjoy the peace and beauty of uninterrupted attention, will create a relaxing experience that you will want to repeat elsewhere.
