Local charity Galway Contact is having a music night in the Connemara Lake Hotel, Oughterard on Saturday April 25 from 8.30pm. Music is provided by Glór na dTonn and DJ Aidan Kenny with special guest Seamus Moore (JCB man ).
Tickets are €10 presale or €15 on the night, and can be purchased in the Connemara Lake Hotel or by calling the hotel at 091 866016. They are also available from Galway Contact by calling 091 867892. Raffle tickets are also on sale before and on the night.
Galway Contact is a voluntary organisation and registered charity founded in 1981 supporting older people in Galway city and county. This event will help raise much-needed funds to support the group’s volunteers so they can continue their visiting services and other supports to older people who may feel lonely or isolated.
The charity's volunteers visit people on a weekly basis and run social clubs, its bus brings people who need transport to various weekly lunch clubs and the organisation assists people in obtaining personal alarms so they can feel safe in their own homes. Its trustees, board of management and other volunteers also give freely of their time and skills. Galway Contact receives some funding from the HSE and Pobal but fundraising is vital.
