Since 2018,TG4 has invited applications from third level graduates, or newcomers to the industry, to participate in a year-long work experience internship programme with the Irish language station.

Internships within TG4 offer valuable hands-on experience across a range of media roles, particularly for those with strong Irish language skills. Opportunities include placements in areas such as social media, production, and sports broadcasting, where interns contribute to content creation, live event coverage, and digital engagement.

Interns can gain experience across a variety of departments, including BLOC, MOLSCÉAL, Spórt TG4, Foghlaim TG4, as well as in graphic design and editing. TG4 is currently seeking new interns in these areas, providing an exciting opportunity for individuals to develop practical skills in a dynamic, Irish-language media environment while building a strong foundation for a career in broadcasting.

Among the current interns from Galway are Ciarán Ó Flaithearta from Inis Mór. Ciarán is the Sports Intern with TG4 since August 2025. Ciarán developed a strong passion for sport from a young age, playing everything from Gaelic football to rugby with Galwegians RFC, while later studying Journalism with Irish at the University of Galway and gaining experience as a sports editor and social media manager.

After graduating, he focused on building his presenting skills through freelance journalism, radio training, and content creation roles, including work with Balls.ie and Irish Citylink. Since joining TG4 as an intern in 2025, he has contributed to productions like Sacar na mBan, GAA Beo, and Rugbaí Beo while creating digital content for Spórt TG4 social platforms.

Danielle Ní Chaoilte from An Cheathrú Rua, in the Conamara Gaeltacht is TG4’s first-ever editing intern, bringing with her a deep passion for the Irish language and creative media.

She developed her editing skills from a young age, working on freelance projects and building experience in video production. A graduate of the University of Limerick with a First Class Honours degree, she has also gained industry experience with Danú Media and Ros na Rún, further strengthening her expertise in editing and media production.

During her time at university, her love for editing grew exponentially, even choosing to form her final year project and thesis around editing and film theory.

Eilís Ní Bhroin from Ballybane has spent the past year working as the Cúla4 intern with TG4, where she manages social media, creates content with young people, and supports the channel’s publicity. In September, she will return to studying Communication and Translation Studies at the University of Galway. Through her work with Cúla4 and previous experience in radio and media, Eilís is committed to promoting and living through Irish, and values her role as part of the channel’s team.
