Clayton Hotel Galway’s new meetings and events sales manager is Fernando Cunha, who brings to the role a wealth of international events experience and a strong interest in understanding the dynamics of the local business environment in the west of Ireland.
Originally from Lisbon in Portugal and having spent part of his career in London, Mr Cunha has approached his first months in Galway with a clear focus on listening, learning and engaging with organisations across different sectors, seeking to better understand the people behind the region’s economic activity.
According to Fernando, one of the most positive impressions since arriving in Galway has been the openness of the local business community and the willingness of organisations to collaborate and exchange perspectives. He believes that continued dialogue between sectors can play an important role in strengthening connections and supporting long-term regional development.
“The team at Clayton Hotel Galway has warmly welcomed the energy and enthusiasm Fernando brings to his role," said Rory Fitzgerald, general manager of Clayton Hotel Galway. "His collaborative mindset, natural curiosity, and commitment to building meaningful relationships are already making a positive impact. With a clear passion for enabling success, Fernando is a valuable addition to the local business community and an engaging partner for future collaborations.”
As he continues to familiarise himself with Galway’s business landscape, Fernando Cunha’s clear objective is to contribute positively to the local ecosystem, supporting not only the role of Clayton Hotel Galway as a business venue, but also as a space that can help facilitate connections across the wider business community.
In his new role, he is particularly interested in encouraging environments where ideas and experiences can be shared in a constructive and informal way, supporting interaction between businesses and the wider community.
