Seven years in, Irish Citylink celebrates continuing Ballina – Galway route

Irish Citylink has reassured passengers and communities that it will continue to operate existing five daily services between Ballina and Galway, ensuring uninterrupted connectivity for the towns and villages along this important corridor. This includes five departures Monday–Saturday and four on Sundays.

This week also marks a significant milestone for Irish Citylink, as yesterday Wednesday saw the seventh anniversary of the popular Ballina – Galway service. Over the past seven years, this route has become an essential link for residents, students, workers and visitors across the region, and Citylink remains fully committed to supporting the communities we serve.

Irish Citylink will consult with the National Transport Authority (NTA ) to assess whether additional capacity, increased frequency or further service enhancements are required in response to the withdrawal of Route 52 by Bus Éireann.

“We are working to ensure that residents, students, workers and visitors along the Ballina – Galway corridor retain reliable, convenient, and affordable public transport options.

Irish Citylink recognises the essential role that high quality coach services play in supporting communities:

Citylink continues to deliver excellent value on its Ballina – Galway route, with competitively priced fares. The best fares can be found on the Irish Citylink website and app. This includes reduced fares for YAC card holders who book online. FTP card holders can travel for free on the service, with a fee of just €2 to reserve a seat.

Irish Citylink remains firmly committed to being a dependable transport partner for the west of Ireland. “We will continue to monitor demand closely and remain ready to further enhance our services should the NTA identify additional public transport requirements along the corridor,” a spokesman said.
