There is relief at last for passengers who have had to put up with being drenched by rain while waiting at a bus shelter on the Dublin Road, Councillor Terry O’Flaherty has confirmed.

A new roof was erected on Friday last on the bus shelter located close to the Garda Regional Headquarters.

The shelter had been damaged by storms for a long period of time resulting in passengers getting wet every time it rained.

Cllr O’Flaherty confirmed that a crew arrived at this shelter on Friday last to repair damage and reinstate the shelter, complete with a new roof.

She said the bus stop is located in a very busy area, particularly as it is close to the ATU. A large number of students plus a high number of elderly people from Renmore waiting for the 402,404, and 409 buses have been affected

Cllr O’Flaherty said that when she was contacted about the problem last week, she immediately made contact with the company that has the responsibility to deal with the shelters.

She said she was pleased that they took her representations on board, and the repair work was carried out within days of her contact.
