A JUDGE in the District Court has refused jurisdiction in the case brought against a Headford man who is charged with cultivating cannabis plants in his home.

Adam Forde, Keernaun, Headford was before Judge Valerie Corcoran at Galway District Court charged with having cannabis plants valued at €7,200 in his possession.

The plants were discovered by Gardaí in a search of his home. It is also alleged the search revealed cannabis herb to the value of €718 and weighing scales.

Judge Corcoran refused to hear the case due to the amounts involved. It will now go forward to the Circuit Criminal Court for hearing. The case was adjourned until the May 18 sitting to allow time for Gardaí to prepare a book of evidence.
