Galway Ladies clash with Dublin in Round 6 of their Lidl National League Division One campaign.
The Tribeswomen currently sit just one-point off leaders Cork in second place, with a three-point advantage over third place Waterford. Dublin are bottom on points difference with their sole win of the campaign coming against Kildare in February.
Galway sealed their fourth victory of the campaign against Kerry last time out. Daniel Moynihan's side's attacking quality was on show again with Hannah Noone, Kate Slevin and Leanne Coen getting integral scores.
The Tribeswomen's offensive talents bore fruit from the outset. Aoife Molloy, Roisin Leonard, and Aoife O'Rourke flew out of the traps to fire Galway into a three-point lead. Further scores from sharpshooters Slevin, Noone, Coen, and Andrea Trill saw Galway go into the break with a 0-9 to 1-4 lead.
Coen's strike 30 seconds after the restart was the crucial blow of the game. She showed a poacher's instinct to fire home after Leonard's initial effort was blocked. With 40 minutes played, Galway led by 1-10 to 1-6, but Kerry grew into the contest and made it a nervy finish.
Galway's first-half scoring and Coen's early strike in the second was the winning of the game. It puts the Tribeswomen in a healthy position going into Saturday's contest.
They will be up against a Dublin outfit struggling for form. Yet, they showed promise in their draw with Armagh earlier this month.
Galway's power offensively should be enough, but they will have to have their wits about them.
