Much-needed roadworks in the Renmore area will be tackled by Galway City Council later this year, local Councillor Terry O’Flaherty has confirmed.
The Independent councillor received confirmation this week from the roads department of the City Council that they are currently finalising the list of roads across the city to be included in the schedule of Road Improvement Works for 2026.
Officials have told her that it was anticipated that the Renmore Ave/Renmore Road junction, including the section of pavement outside the Full Duck on Renmore Park Road, will be included in this year’s programme, which should be finalised in the next two weeks.
“These roads have deteriorated rapidly due to the amount of traffic that uses these roads and the potholes keep opening up due to the heavy rainfalls over the winter period,” said Councillor O’Flaherty.
“I have been making very strong representations to the roads department to include these works in their resurfacing works programme and I’m very pleased that my recommendations are being taken on board and the necessary works will be undertaken, which will enhance the area greatly.”
Cllr O’Flaherty thanked the local authority’s roads engineers for their attention to the problems she had highlighted.
