Moyne Villa Soccer Club in Headford received a Connacht provincial award in recognition of the dedication and hard work of its volunteers at the Volunteers in Sport Awards.
The awards are hosted by the Federation of Irish Sport and supported by the National Network of 29 Local Sports Partnerships. They celebrate the outstanding contribution of volunteers who give their time, skills and passion to support sports clubs and community organisations across the country. The ceremony took place in Dublin last Thursday, February 26.
Moyne Villa Soccer Club’s recognition at provincial level is a testament to the commitment, teamwork and community spirit of its volunteers, whose tireless efforts ensure that players of all ages in Headford have the opportunity to participate, develop and enjoy the game.
Cllr Andrew Reddington said that Moyne Villa is "far more" than a football club.
"Congratulations to Moyne Villa. This club is far more than a soccer club and we saw that first hand during their dedication to the community during storm Éowyn," said the Fine Gael councillor.
The club would like to sincerely thank all of its volunteers for their continued dedication and support, without which the club would not be possible.
