An Oranmore man is to be tried for an assault which allegedly took place in the Nut Hut Chinese restaurant on Bridge Street, Galway on February 9 last.
Tony Fahy, Ballinacregg, Oranmore had his case adjourned to the April 24 sitting of Galway District Court when he will decide whether he is to plead guilty to the offence or have a date set for the hearing of the case.
Judge Catherine Ryan heard that on the night in question the alleged victim came to the Garda Station and made an allegation of assault in the Nut Hut. The Gardaí summoned an ambulance and the complainant was taken to hospital.
The court heard that a verbal altercation took place between the parties in the restaurant and matters led from there. The Judge confirmed that that no weapons were used and she heard Garda evidence that “certain admissions were made on the night.”
She noted from a medical report that there were no fractures involved in the allegations against Fahy, so she would accept jurisdiction in the District Court and adjourned matters until April 24.
