The new Opel Astra and Astra Sports Tourer are set to land in Ireland later this year after making their public debut at this year’s Brussel Motor Show.
Now, the front of the Astra is narrower and more precisely designed as the illuminated Opel Blitz now sits at the centre of the Astra face on the top spec Grandland. New rim designs for the 17- and 18-inch alloys are available, as well as new metallic paint options such as ‘Kontur White’ and ‘Klover Green’.
Standard across all trims, Opel’s patented Intelli-Seats are characterised by a special recess running in the middle of the seat. Inspired by the bicycle saddle design on road bikes, the technology reduces pressure on the tailbone to ensure relaxed driving comfort even on long drives. Trim dependent, multi-adjustable, heated, AGR-certified seats with electric lumbar support, massage and memory functions are available.
With a 58kWh battery, the new Astra Electric promises an additional 34km of driving range (454km ) compared to the previous version. Also new, the all-electric Astra offers Vehicle-to-Load for the first time, allowing the charging of external devices without having to rely on other power sources.
The Astra hatchback offers up to 1,339-litres of luggage space with the seats folded down, while the Sports Tourer offers a load volume of up to 1,634-litres. In addition, the rear seat backrest in the estate can be flexibly folded down in a 40:20:40 ratio.
