Galway face Connacht rivals Roscommon at Pearse Stadium this Saturday evening as they look to build on their National Football League momentum.

Pádraic Joyce's side have certainly caught people's attention in the league so far. You would be forgiven for believing Rob Finnerty's buzzer beater to triumph over Armagh was as exciting as it could get this campaign. Step forward the relentless, never-say-die Tribesmen in Tralee to outdo that and some.

The clock strikes minute 47 in Austin Stack Park and the All-Ireland champions Kerry are leading 2-15 to 1-6. David Clifford is in full flow, Sean O'Shea is orchestrating proceedings, Galway's early promise has dissipated into the Munster air.

But Galway's young bulls have shown in this campaign to-date that they do not lie down. They needed a spark and Shane McGrath provided it. A beautifully struck two-pointer lit the match and Kerry's dominance went up in flames.

Cian Hernon and John Maher's goals within five minutes of each other closed the gap to two. The home side were stunned, the away sides' tails were up. Dylan McHugh followed those goals up to bring his side to within one-point. Kerry's Dylan Casey responds and the reigning All-Ireland champions are back ahead by two.

But Galway refused to be beaten. McGrath, who kicked off the Tribesman revival, hammered another blow from outside the arc. From twelve points down to level, a monumental comeback was complete.

If teams were not weary of Joyce's men already, they are now. Their campaign so far has not been pretty but they are showcasing the hallmarks of a team growing in confidence and togetherness. Results like the comeback at Kerry will do wonders for team spirit.

Confirmation of Paul Conroy's return was the icing on the cake. There is plenty for fans to be enthused by. Victory over provincial rivals Roscommon this weekend could provide another statement of intent from Joyce's side. Fans may then be allowed to get excited.

Roscommon are an emerging threat themselves. The Rossies have two wins from their first three games and sit in second spot behind Donegal. Galway might be catching them at a good time with the St Brigids contingent only returning to training this week.

Throw-in at Pearse Stadium is 7pm this Saturday.
