The Ballybane Community Hub is set to host a series of welcoming and informative events over the coming days, offering local residents opportunities to learn new skills, look after their health and enjoy social time together.
First up is a Vegan Cooking Demonstration taking place this Thursday 29 at 7pm in the Ballybane Community Hub. The event will focus on creating a delicious, affordable Veganuary-friendly meal featuring tofu and lentils, served with naan bread. Designed with beginners and families in mind, the live, step-by-step demonstration will be led by experienced chef Maria McNeela, who will guide attendees through the cooking process while sharing practical tips for healthy plant-based meals at home. The event is ideal for anyone curious about vegan cooking or simply looking to expand their repertoire with nutritious, budget-friendly dishes. All are welcome to attend, with parking available adjacent to Ballybane Library.
Health and wellbeing take centre stage on Tuesday February 3 at 7pm, when the hub will host a Free Health Screening Evening. A local registered general nurse specialist will provide complimentary blood pressure and blood glucose tests to residents of Ballybane and beyond. The initiative aims to promote early detection and awareness of potential health issues, particularly high blood pressure and elevated blood sugar levels, which are often referred to as “silent conditions” due to their lack of immediate symptoms. The quick and simple tests take only a few minutes to complete, with no appointment required. Open to all age groups, the screening reflects the hub’s commitment to supporting community health and encouraging preventative care.
Rounding off the week is a Board Games Evening on Wednesday February 4 at 6.30pm, offering a relaxed and social environment for people of all ages to come together. Whether you are a seasoned board game enthusiast or simply looking for a fun midweek activity, the evening promises friendly competition and plenty of laughs.
All events take place at Ballybane Community Hub, 30 Béal Srutha, H91 TW27, with parking available beside Ballybane Library. For further details on any of the events, contact Donal Lynch on 087 199 4360.
