Volvo enters the all-electric mid-size SUV market with its new EX60 set to land in Ireland this July.
The EX60 will be available in three powertrains. The P12 AWD Electric variants offer a claimed range of up to 810km. The P10 AW Electric promises a range of up to 660km, while a rear-wheel powered P6 Electric is said to deliver up to 620km of range.
Built on the brand's new SPA3 electric vehicle architecture, cell-to-body technology, in-house developed e-motors, a new battery cell design and mega casting all help to boost energy efficiency and driving range while reducing weight. The new EX60 promised range of 810km on a single charge puts it just ahead of the forthcoming BMW iX3's claimed range of 805km.
In terms of design, the long wheelbase and flat floor create much more legroom in the rear, as well as a large luggage compartment and various smart storage spaces for personal items. The EX60 will be the first Volvo with Apple Music pre-installed with Dolby Atmos. The car also comes with a 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
For safety, Volvo's multi-adaptive safety belt, a world-first and award-winning safety innovation, will offer smarter and more personalised protection in the front row. At the core of the EX60’s safety structure is the safety cage, strengthened with boron steel.
Production of the new Volvo EX60 starts in Sweden this spring, with first Irish customer deliveries of the P6 (from €66,695 ) and P10 (from €69,995 ) variants commencing this summer. The P12 (from €76,595 ) will follow soon after that. The EX60 also comes with a 10-year battery warranty.
