A record entry of close on 700 competed in the first road race of the year – the Campion Insurance Resolution Run over 5k, organised by Galway City Harriers
There was a great three-way battle out front for victory, with William Fitzgerald of Craughwell and David Carter of host club GCH both taking the lead at various stages. David Meehan of Tulla AC pipped both with a swift 2.54 last kilometre, to come home in 15.12. Carter was next home in 15.19, with Fitzgerald third in 15.26.
In the Ladies race, Maebh Brannigan of GCH dominated affairs as she won well in 17.30, ahead of clubmates Amey Bermingham in 18.06, and Siobhan Lee in 18.10.
