While on patrol in Loughrea, Co. Galway on Christmas Eve, Gardaí approached a male in the Barrack Street area.
The man attempted to run away from Gardaí and while doing so, dropped a bag of what is suspected to be crack cocaine to the street value of approximately €6200.
Gardaí pursued the manand detained him. Gardaí then conducted a search and he was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine to the street value of approximately €8,750 and cannabis herb to the street value of approximately €2,750.
In total, Gardaí seized €17,650 worth of drugs, which will be forwarded Forensic Science Ireland (FSI ) for analysis.
The man, in his 30s, was arrested and conveyed to a Garda Station in Co. Galway.Investigations are ongoing.
