Live Crib experience in Galway Cathedral

Galway Cathedral warmly invites the community to experience its annual Live Crib on Tuesday, December 16, from 11:30am to 4:00pm.

This living tableau features parishioners portraying the Holy Family and shepherds, alongside real farm animals, while local school choirs fill the air with Christmas carols.

Msgr. Peter Rabbitte reflected, “The Live Crib offers a beautiful way to connect with the joy and hope that began in the manger, illuminating our Advent journey.”

Fr. John Gerard Acton added, “We carry so much in our hearts, grief, worry, loneliness, the struggle of simply trying to get through each day. As we conclude this Jubilee Year of Hope, the Live Crib speaks directly to those burdens.

“It tells us that God did not remain distant from our pain. He became vulnerable, entering our broken world as a helpless infant, so that no suffering would be beyond His reach. In that manger, we find a promise: that even in our darkest moments, we are seen, we are loved, and we are never abandoned.”

The Live Crib will be located at the Salmon Weir Bridge entrance. Admission is free, and all are welcome.
