Merlin College student shines in national art competition

Merlin College is celebrating a proud moment as Transition Year student Ella Ilerisoy achieved third place in the prestigious Show Racism the Red Card national art competition, organised and run by the Immigrant Council of Ireland.

This competition encourages young people to use creativity as a powerful tool to promote equality and challenge racism.Ella’s success reflects her dedication and passion for art, nurtured by her inspiring teachers.

She is pictured alongside her Art teacher Sinhye Park, who champions the idea of art as a voice for students, and John Cleary, her enthusiastic Art Club mentor and school Principal.

Ella attends the after-school Art Club weekly, joining many other students in a warm and tranquil environment where creativity flourishes.The arts hold a special place at Merlin College, and this achievement highlights the school’s commitment to fostering artistic talent.

To celebrate creativity further, the annual Art Club Exhibition will be showcased during the school’s free Christmas Market on Thursday, December 18, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Visitors can enjoy an evening of visual delights while the school’s choral group fills the air with festive carols, creating a magical atmosphere for all.

Merlin College congratulates Ella on her outstanding achievement and looks forward to seeing the continued growth of artistic expression within its vibrant community.
