A defendant described in court as “a very nice young girl” was given a chance when she appeared before Galway District Court charged with stealing candles to the value of €338 from Home Store & More.
Judge John Brennan heard that the 19-year-old was married earlier this year, but was now back living with her parents. A co-accused was living in the UK, but the girl was taking full responsibility and had compensation with her, the Court was told.
The Judge said she was still very young and said she should have a chance to get on with her life while she still had the chance.
Taking into account her guilty plea, compensation being paid and having no previous conviction, he struck out the charge.
