A new engineering and manufacturing company is set to open in Spiddal, creating 11 full-time positions in its first year with plans for additional hiring in the future.
Larkin Engineering will launch Innealtóireacht & Déantúsaíocht Teoranta (IDT ) at the former site of Innill Dóiteáin Teoranta, a company that operated locally for more than 40 years before entering liquidation in April 2025.
"We have complete confidence in Larkin Engineering's experience and commitment, and look forward to collaborating with them to grow and strengthen this business in the coming years," said Noreen Breathnach of Údarás na Gaeltachta's Enterprise and Employment Division.
Larkin Engineering purchased a substantial portion of the former company's machinery and assets at public auction during the liquidation process, enabling the new operation to hit the ground running.
The venture is expected to drive local economic growth while advancing skills development and innovation in the Connemara Gaeltacht, with recruitment set to expand from year two onwards.
