Galway Races says thank you for a remarkable year

As the curtain falls on an exceptional 2025 season, Galway Races CEO Michael Moloney has, on behalf of everyone at the Galway Races, has extended his heartfelt thanks to all who suppoorted them.

He said that this year was defined by unforgettable racing, vibrant crowds, and the community spirit that makes Ballybrit truly special.

“Our world-renowned Summer Festival, delivered seven memorable days of top-class racing, fashion, music, and entertainment. With 53 races and a prize fund exceeding €2.17 million, the festival once again reaffirmed its place as one of Ireland’s most beloved racing and social occasions.

“Highlights included local jockey Danny Gilligan claiming his second Tote Galway Plate aboard Western Fold, and the dramatic finish to the Guinness Galway Hurdle, where Ndaawi was awarded victory after a stewards’ inquiry,” he added.

“Off the track, Ladies Day crowned Galway’s Megan Cunniss as Best Dressed Lady, while more than 50 live music performances and our Mad Hatters Family Funday filled the course with colour and energy.

“Our Autumn Racing Days continued that momentum, offering high-quality racing in a relaxed, local atmosphere. This included our annual Race in Pink Day, which once again showcased the generosity of our community, raising an outstanding €65,000 for the National Breast Cancer Research Institute,” added Mr Moloney.

“The season concluded with a record-breaking Student Raceday, where 7,500 students helped raise over €30,000 for charities chosen by ATU and University of Galway students.

“To our racegoers, participants, sponsors, staff, volunteers, and the wider Galway community, thank you for your passion, support, and pride. As planning begins for the 2026 Summer Festival, I wish you and your families a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year,” concluded Michael Moloney.
