Galway events announced for Irish Book Week

A number of Galway bookshops will host events during Irish Book Week 2025, which runs from October 18 to 25.

Bookselling Ireland has announced details of some of the exciting instore events taking place across Galway during the week.

These include the launch of Meredith Chasson’s new book Irish Dressers and Delph, at the Clifden Bookshop on Saturday, October25. Chasson will visit the store at 2pm to launch the book.

Also on Saturday, October 25, Ellen Ryan who will host a free children’s storybook workshop in Books at One in Letterfrack at 4pm.

Now in its 8th year, Irish Book Week is a nationwide celebration of Irish bookshops, Irish books, publishers, writers, illustrators, and poets.

The week aims to encourage people from across Ireland to shop local and shop Irish by visiting their local bookshops to discover and enjoy a range of exciting and interesting events, readings, parties, displays and much more.

The artwork for this year’s campaign was produced by children’s illustrator Mel Carroll, who is also campaign ambassador along with Cork author Patrick Holloway, historical fiction writer Cauvery Madhavan, women’s fiction novelist Sheila O’Flanagan, and children’s author Máire Zepf.
