Craughwell’s Duggan to take to the world stage

Former Craughwell AC athlete, Michelle Duggan will feature at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this Saturday at 12pm Irish time.

Former Craughwell AC athlete, Michelle Duggan will feature at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo this Saturday at 12pm Irish time.

Duggan competes as part of the Irish women's 4x400m squad along with Sharlene Mawdsley, Sophie Becker, Rachel McCann, and Cliodhna Manning. They will take part in the heats on Saturday.

Galway City Harriers athlete Cillín Greene was a squad member in the Mixed Relay 4x400m squad, alongside Jack Raftery, Conor Kelly, Sophie Becker, and Rachel McCann. In a difficult heat, including eventual champions the USA, Ireland placed sixth overall and missed out on a final berth.

Castlegar AC hosts Galway Senior and Masters Championships

This Saturday, September 20 in Galway Racecourse, Castlegar AC will host the Galway Senior and Masters Championships.

With entry still on Eventmaster, the programme starts from 11.30am with a series of juvenile races. Among the highlights are the Senior Women’s race at 12.55pm, with GCH and Craughwell fielding strong squads, and the Senior Men’s event at 1.30pm with Craughwell expected to dominate.

Galway Primary Schools Cross Country Championships

The Galway Primary Schools Cross Country Championships take place on September 30 and October 7.

Open to all third to sixth class pupils, the first day is semi-final day and this year it will take place in Galway Racecourse, with the finals in Renmore as usual. Entry is via the schools and entry forms have been issued to all schools.
