Expolore the rich history of lace with Lásadóirí na Coiribe

Lásadóirí na Coiribe, a group dedicated to Irish lacemaking, has grown from its humble beginnings with five members in a five-week course to a thriving community of twenty members over seven years.

The group’s core mission is to foster the learning and preservation of this intricate art form. They meet regularly, specifically at the Connemara Coast Hotel, to share their passion for various Irish lacemaking traditions, including Limerick, Carrickmacross, Mountmellick, Irish Crochet, and Youghal needle lace. Through exhibitions and community engagement, they actively promote the beauty and heritage of Irish lace.

As part of August Craft Month, and supported by The Design and Craft Council of Ireland the upcoming exhibition “Stories in Lace” invites visitors to explore the rich history, intricate artistry, and cultural significance of lace-making through time.

Showcasing both traditional techniques and contemporary interpretations, the exhibition highlights the delicate craftsmanship passed down through generations.

Stories in Lace weaves together personal narratives, historical context, and visual beauty, offering a unique opportunity to reflect on heritage and creativity through the fine threads of lace. Come and meet the Lacemakers. Bigi Linn
