Every year a number of horses make more than one appearance during Galway race week, and following these closely can prove lucrative as we approach the weekend. 'Horses for courses' is a cliche that is now in use in everyday language to remind us that things have a habit of repeating themselves.

There is no racecourse where this applies more than Galway.

With this in mind, I have been looking at the entries for the remainder of the week, and a number of horses stand out.

Itsneverjustone, an impressive winner over 7 furlongs on Monday evening, is entered again in Sunday’s Village Salthill Handicap, over a slightly longer trip. Trained in GB by David Loughnane, he was a very easy winner on Monday and looks well capable of following up under a penalty on Sunday.

Another impressive winner on Monday evening, Jerrari, is entered in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle, the opening race on Sunday’s card. The hint should be taken if the Jessica Harrington trained five year old takes up this engagement under the fixed penalty incurred for his success earlier in the week. Another horse entered for this race is Castleheath, who dead heated for first place in Tuesday evening’s Caulfield Industrial Handicap over 1m 1f. He is also entered in both a flat handicap and a handicap hurdle on Saturday’s card, and looks sure to give another good account in whichever race he turns up.

Following on from his success in Tuesday’s feature, The McDonagh Handicap, course specialist Dunum will be well fancied if turning outagain in Sunday’s feature, The Ahonoora Handicap, over 7f. As a previous winner of the race, he will be a popular fancy for those who follow the ‘horses for courses’ maxim.

Others who ran well earlier in the week, and hold entries over the weekend include Chortal and Highbury See See. They are also worth serious consideration if they take up a second engagement at the festival.

A few more to consider for the remainder of the week include Westport Cove, who is strongly fancied by the Willie Mullins stable. The Closutton operation also expect Chart Topper to run well in Saturday’s feature, The BoyleSports Handicap Hurdle, and Winter Fog to outrun his likely odds of 20/1 in Thursday’s feature, The Guinness Galway Hurdle.

Weekend Recommendation: An E/W double on Sunday, Dunum and Itsneverjustone
