Cllr Alan Cheevers has welcomed news that an active travel scheme for Monivea Road will soon come before the council.

“There have been ongoing safety concerns for pedestrians along sections of Monivea Road,” said Cllr Cheevers.

“I believe it is essential that we see proper pedestrian crossings installed, particularly in the area running from the Clayton Hotel along Monivea Road.

“These measures are urgently needed, and I will fully support any proposals that improve safety and accessibility for all road users,” he said.

Cllr Cheevers stressed the importance of prioritising pedestrian safety as part of the council’s wider commitment to sustainable and active travel in the city.
