Hyundai Ireland has released the pricing and specification for the new Ioniq 9 seven-seater electric SUV.

It is now on sale here from €78,495, excluding delivery and related charges. Annual road tax is €120.

In Ireland, the Ioniq 9 will initially be sold in one, highly-equipped ‘Elegance’ specification. This rear-wheel drive version gets a 110kWh battery with an output of 218ps/215hp, 800-volt fast-charging capabilities and a promised range of up to 620km. A six-seater version, as well as an all-wheel drive variant, will be available to purchase in early 2026.

Hyundai Ireland this week introduced media to its new flagship Ioniq 9, with a brief drive proving refined and quite luxurious. We are told this comes courtesy of a suspension set-up that has been specially designed for electric SUVs, featuring a MacPherson multi-link front and multi-link rear set-up, plus self-levelling dampers.

Fast charging is said to allow the Ioniq 9 to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 24 minutes, using a 350kW charger. A heat pump and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L ) are also included, with the latter meaning you can power any device or charge electrical equipment up to 3.6kW with the on-board 230V power socket or exterior charging port.

Additional standard equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, power tailgate, heated, ventilated, and electrically adjustable front seats, second-row heated seats, a pair of 12.3-inch dashboard displays, and 100W interior charging ports. Advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS ) include: Highway Drive Assist 2.0, Multi Collision Brake Assist, and Downhill Brake Control. The Ioniq 9 sits on 20-inch Kumho tyres and has a towing capacity of up to 1,600kg.

When it arrives here, the six-seat model will offer the ability to rotate the second row of seats while parked. The centre console allows for a walk-through front-row arrangement alongside bidirectional armrests that open from front and rear, offering easy access from the second row, while the entire console can slide up to 190mm, delivering greater storage flexibility.

The Hyundai Ioniq 9 shares its E-GMP underpinnings with the Kia EV9, as well as smaller EVs such as the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6, and the Kia EV6. The Ioniq 9 also debuts Hyundai AI Assistant, which can control vehicle functions through voice.

Despite only just landing in dealer showrooms, the Hyundai Ioniq 9 has already scooped its first major award, being crowned ‘Best Seven-Seat EV’ at the 2025 TopGear.com Electric Awards. An expert panel of judges favoured its practicality, sharp styling and smart technology.
