Sinn Féin TD for Galway West Mairéad Farrell has called on the HSE and Minister for Health to ensure that the ambulance base planned for Conamara is delivered as quickly as possible and that there are no further delays with the project.
It comes as the HSE have advised that the project has been delayed a number of months when compared to the timeline given by the Minister of Health and National Ambulance Service last year.
Teachta Farrell said that last year, Stephen Donnelly, who was Minister for Health at the time, advised that the Conamara ambulance should be built by Q3 of 2025, which was extremely welcome.
“However, the HSE has most recently advised that they do not expect construction to begin until Q3 2025.
“This is a long-awaited project that is badly needed for the well-being and safety of the people of Conamara. Government need to hold up their promises on this and deliver the ambulance hub in Recess as soon as possible. There must be no further delays.
“I am calling on both Minister Carooll-McNeill and the HSE to ensure that there are no more changes made to this timeline and that the ambulance hub is delivered as soon as possible,” she concluded.
