The Great Limerick Run took place last weekend and hosted three races, a Marathon, Half Marathon and 6 Mile.

Galway athletes travelled in huge numbers, and secured several podium spots.

In the Ladies Marathon, Fiona Molloy, based in Galway and a GCH and University of Galway alumna, placed second overall behind winner Ava Crean, clocking 2 hours 57 minutes. Neasa De Burca of Galway City Harriers ran strongly to come in next in third, in another sub three hour run, running 2 hours 58 minutes. Ger Cuddy and Louis Coyne both clocked well under three hours in the Men's event.

In the Ladies Half Marathon, Eimear O'Leary was fifth home in 1 hours 24 mins.

The GCH Mens Relay team came in second in the Marathon Relay, via the squad of Bryan Lalor, Michale Conway, Paul Fahy and Shane McDonagh.

In the 6 Mile race Jamie Fallon of Craughwell AC ran well to place third, while Ellen Moran made a strong return to action with fourth in the Ladies race.

Galway City Harriers travelled in huge numbers, as part of a fundraiser for Galway Hospice, and in memory of their recently deceased clubmate Jimmy Ward, on a poignant yet memorable day for the club.
