Galway take on Mayo in the Connacht Senior Football Championship this Sunday at Hastings Insurance MacHale Park.
The Tribesmen cruised into their tenth consecutive provincial final with a 1-24 to 0-18 victory over Roscommon at Pearse Stadium in the semi-final. It was a display of shooting excellence provided by a forward-line devoid of Shane Walsh and a scoreless Damien Comer cameo.
Galway's range of scoring prowess remains their strongest weapon. It will be interesting to see what Pádraig Joyce does if Walsh is fit, but no doubt the reliance on the talismanic duo has lessened. Having multiple strings to your bow is a huge asset.
All-Star Rob Finnerty has shouldered the scoring responsibility impressively. He shot 0-8 against the Rossie's in the semi-final, with five of his six open play scores coming after half-time.
Joyce's side are chasing an illustrious four-in-a-row - not achieved since 1966 at the time of the imperious Galway team of the sixties.
Galway swept their opponents aside when they met in the league at the beginning of February. Their 0-26 to 0-16 victory at Sunday's venue was the Tribesmen's biggest victory over their neighbours in over 40 years.
Still, Galway will be under no illusions to the threat Kevin McStay's team pose. A final is a final, and anything can happen.
Joyce and his team's priority will undoubtedly be claiming the Sam Maguire come July, but nothing builds momentum like winning. Bragging rights over your neighbours is always nice too.
All eyes will be fixed on Castlebar this Sunday to see who hoists the Nestor Cup aloft. Throw-in is at 4pm.
