The 50 Plus Show, the lifestyle event for people 50 and over, is returning to the Salthill Hotel on May 13 and 14.

Over 60 exhibitors covering, health, hobbies & pastimes, rights and entitlements, volunteering, recruitment, personal finance, internet tuition, food, fashion, coin and stamp collecting and home and abroad holidays will be taking part at this year’s 50 Plus show, the largest in its 10 years being run in Galway.

Popular features will be cooking demonstrations with Kate Wright and Jacques Brennan, plus a series of arts and crafts workshops where participants can create and take home their work – all for free. The Irish Heart Foundation will be conducting free blood pressure checks and Sinead Ryan from Newstalk and the Irish Independent will be speaking on consumer/legal and personal finance issues that affect older people.

Free digital advice/volunteering/recruitment

Once again the show will have a ‘Hi Digital’ area where people can get advice from experts on getting online and assisting people with their hobbies and travel, online banking, entertainment and shopping or just connecting with friends and family online. And for anybody looking to get back into employment, whether part or full time there will be a ‘Jobs Wall’ where qualified employer relations officers from the Department of Social protection will be promoting vacancies both full and part time for the over 50s, along with training courses available for people to upskill. A number of companies/bodies will also be exhibiting and inviting people to volunteer or join their club or society.

The 50 Plus Show is taking place in the Salthill Hotel and is open from 10am to 5pm on both Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14.

Admission is free by going to www.seniortimes.ie and registering online, emailing [email protected] or calling 01 496 9028.
