Kinvara is gearing up for a fantastic weekend as Fleadh na gCuach 2025 returns over the May Bank Holiday (May 2 to 5 ). This much-loved festival of traditional music and community arts promises something for everyone — from toe-tapping tunes to family fun and creative workshops.
Over 120 musicians will perform across the village, including some of the biggest names in Irish trad such as Dermot Byrne, Mary Bergin, Bríd Harper, Johnny Ringo McDonagh and many more.
New this year is The Courthouse, a cosy venue hosting intimate gigs, workshops, and even a teen trad session with Mary Shannon and Anne Kinane. Acts including Emma Langford, Ben MacCaoilte and Teague and Joyce will take to the stage here but seats are very limited due to the size of the venue.
To make it easier to attend, the Cuckoo Express bus will run from Gort all weekend, with extra taxi options to keep things car-free and hassle-free.
There is loads of entertainment for families too — including art workshops, nature talks, a puppet show by Your Man’s Puppets, and the ever-popular Cuckoo Fun Run on Saturday at 12.30pm.
Young music lovers can take part in Livefeed, a free Music Generation Galway workshop and concert for 13 to 18-year-olds. Spaces are limited, so email [email protected] to sign up.
On Bank Holiday Monday morning, from 10.30am to 12.30pm, the ever-popular Poets' Breakfast literary event takes place in the Pier Head, where tea, coffee, and scones are served while listening to poetry and prose readings.
Whether you're a trad fan, a curious listener, or just looking for a great day out, Fleadh na gCuach is the place to be. See you in Kinvara!
