Galway City West Area Councillor Donal Lyons attended a recent Galway City Council information briefing on the Kingston and Miller's Lane Master Plan, and has welcomed plans for a further public consultation on the future of the amenity.

Galway City Council senior parks staff together with representatives from McCarthy, Keville, O’Sullivan (MKO ) Consultants, the company appointed by Galway City Council to progress the Kingston and Miller's Lane Master Plan, outlined at the event that a further, non-statutory public consultation will take place from April 24 to May 22. Consultants will be presenting options for the proposed development at Kingston and Miller's Lane to the public during these consultations.

The consultants will also host a public consultation event on April 29 in the Clybaun Hotel from 1pm to 8pm. This event will be open to local residents, local residents' groups and local sporting clubs to give feedback.

Cllr Lyons said he understands that local residents' groups will be invited to engage with the consultants prior to the public consultation event in the Clybaun Hotel to receive feedback as to what is being proposed. Cllr Lyons has also been advised that it is intended to lodge a planning application later in the year.

“As a local public representative in the area I feel that it is very important to ascertain the views of the local population, prior to a final decision being taken by the elected council,” he said.
