Sprinter marks three decades on the road

The Mercedes-Benz centre on Dublin's Naas Road will mark the 30-year anniversary of the brand's Sprinter van.

The sales manager for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles, Fergus Conheady, says that the celebration "will be marked in summer at our headquarters on Dublin’s Naas Road and at our dealerships across the country as part of a worldwide celebration to be undertaken by Mercedes-Benz".

The Sprinter has been awarded the Continental 'Irish Van of the Year' Award on each occasion that an updated version has been introduced.

The light commercial vehicle has become a favourite amongst food, drinks and pharma companies, trades people, courier and package delivery specialists, and business-to-business fleet operators, high-profile users include Dunnes, Supervalu, Tesco and An Post. International names include Amazon, Coca-Cola, DHL, UPS, and FedEx.

The Sprinter model is at the forefront of the HSE's ambulance service and recent deliveries have been made to an Garda Siochána.

Mercedes-Benz expects Sprinter model sales to exceed five million units globally within the current year, with the all-electric eSprinter model now an established unit within the range.
