With their Division 1 status next season already secured, Galway Senior Ladies footballers will go to Croke Park this Saturday, April 12 with nothing but silverware on their minds. They take on Cork, whose only league defeat came at the hands of the Tribeswomen back in February.

Daniel Moynihan's side came out on top in that meeting by 2-8 to 0-12 in the battle between two sides who were relegated from the top flight last year. Leanne Coen and Róisín Leonard got the goals for Galway, while Katie Quirke landed 0-9 for Cork.

Galway and Cork wrapped up their campaigns with victories having already been promoted from Division 2. The Tribeswomen finished their campaign with a 4-22 to 0-5 demolition of Clare with Shauna Hynes, Kate Slevin, Olivia Divilly and Eva Noone getting the goals.

Cork made it six wins from seven with a 1-8 to 0-8 win over Donegal.

It will be Galway's first visit to GAA HQ since their All-Ireland Final defeat to Kerry last summer. For the likes of Nicola and Louise Ward and the Kilkerrin-Clonberne crew, they will look to draw on their recent Croke Park successes to inspire their side to victory and get their season off to a trophy-winning start.

Throw-in at Croke Park is at 3pm.
