The Galway Senior Camogie team travel to the FBD Semple Stadium for a repeat of last year's All-Ireland final to take on Cork in the Very Camogie League Division 1A Final on Sunday, April 13 (throw-in 2.15pm ).

The Tribeswomen secured their place in the final with victory over Cork in the last round of league fixtures. They handed their final opponents their first defeat of the season with a 0-19 to 0-13 win at Páirc Uí Chaoimh on March 29.

Cathal Murray's side were deserving winners and will be full of confidence going into this weekend's encounter. In their previous meeting with Cork last month, the Rebels made five changes to their starting 15 as their spot in the final was already secured.

The changes did not look to have weakened Cork initially as they led 0-3 to 0-2 early on. However, Galway took control of the tie and went on a run of seven scores in a row. They went in at the interval 0-11 to 0-4 to the good, and with the winds at their back for the second-half, they were firmly in the driving seat.

Cork were improved after halftime but they ultimately paid the price for sloppy mistakes in their game. Galway moved ten clear, with Donohue and Carrie Dolan doing the bulk of the scoring, the latter ending the game with 0-10 to her name.

Sarah Healy’s save to deny O’Connor from a 20m free with a little over ten minutes remaining was the end of Cork’s attempted fightback, and the Tribeswomen eased to a six-point win from there.

Revenge for last year's All-Ireland loss and determination to mark the start of the campaign with silverware makes this Galway side dangerous going into Tipperary on Sunday.
